On 5th February 2021, the UK Government’s draft Health and Care White Paper was leaked online. An authorised version was later published on 11th February 2021.

The White Paper sets out a major proposed reorganisation of the NHS in England that is largely in line with recent NHS policies around integration, consolidation and control. The proposed legislation reverses the 2012 NHS changes but also much of what has been introduced since the 1991 NHS reorganisation, such as the internal NHS market.

Our NHS Insights & Interaction team has prepared a two-part summary of the key points and potential implications for the NHS, and for our Pharma and MedTech clients.

Part 1, prepared just days after the leak, summarises the draft White Paper. Part 2 focuses on the differences between this and the authorised Paper, whilst also examining some key themes of significance in respect to market access. Please note, the two summaries are intended to be read as a series.

We are proud to once again be at the forefront of changes to the NHS and be able to offer our commentary and share our insights. Our summaries are accurate and informed by our Faculty and associate network – i.e. the very people who will now implement these proposals.

Please note, access to these key note summaries is at the discretion of the Mtech Access team. This is an exclusive offer for market access professionals and other NHS-facing teams working in Pharmaceutical and MedTech companies.
