Working in partnership with our clients – an interview with Parishee Desai cover

Client Services Manager Parishee Desai tells us about her role supporting client partnerships and her experiences in her first year with Mtech Access. Parishee is a key contact for our Pharma and Medical Device clients. She connects them with the right specialists from across the Mtech Access team and offers clients an opportunity to provide feedback and discuss their needs.

What brought you in to a career in market access?

Having studied Biomedical Sciences at university, I knew I wanted a career close to the science and healthcare industry. Market access was a natural fit for me as it bridged the gap between the science of medicine, which I had learned about extensively during my degree, and the work experience I had undertaken in the healthcare industry.

I began my career as a project manager at another market access consultancy. Here, I enjoyed working on a range of different projects, gaining an understanding of how market access activities can support drugs through their entire product cycle.

My work in market access has allowed to me build on my knowledge of diseases and drugs from university and apply that knowledge in a way that helps patients. It’s an incredibly diverse and interesting industry to be a part of. Most of all, it’s exciting to be working with clients that are at the forefront of cutting edge health innovations.

How do you help Mtech Access work in partnership with our clients?

As Client Services Manager, I act as a conduit between clients and our specialist teams. I work within the commercial team to ensure that clients have a central point of contact for any project enquires, feedback, and proposals.

I use the information collected from my interactions with clients to feed back to our expert teams to help improve our services for current and future clients. It’s always great to talk to clients to get their view on how projects have gone. I also look to understand what their next goals are and how Mtech Access could support them going forward.

What does a typical week look like in your role?

A key aspect of my role is to reach out to potential new clients and keep in touch with our existing clients. Each Monday, I have some dedicated time set aside for these communications. This can include anything from a quick hello on LinkedIn to a detailed conversation about our services and ways of working. I also share our latest thought leadership pieces and send invitations to our webinars and events. Recently this has included emailing clients a copy of our Introductory Guide to Reimbursement in key European Markets and inviting clients to our NHS Engagement Symposium and to meet our team at ISPOR Europe.

Every Tuesday I manage and take minutes during a meeting where representatives from our services share their priorities, new business opportunities, and projects to get input from the wider team.

I also meet with service leads every week to check progress on new enquiries, requests for proposals, and other client communications. This is a great chance for me to understand how the different teams are doing, and also makes it easier to share opportunities that fall across multiple services.

Website enquiries and requests for proposals often come through to me in the first instance. I review these to match the client’s needs and requirements with the right experts in our project teams. Then, I support project teams as they prepare their proposals and onboard new clients. As projects progress, I am there to support clients throughout the journey. Each week there are new enquiries to progress, outgoing proposals to submit, new clients to onboard, and existing clients to gather feedback from. I often have a lot of meetings!

What has your experience been like in your time with Mtech Access?

I have been with Mtech Access for over a year now and have thoroughly enjoyed working with such an open, honest and transparent company. The team have been very supportive and are always up for trying new ideas.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of your role?

I enjoy getting to know the clients and their needs as they start their journey with Mtech Access. It is then doubly rewarding to see how the partnership develops. I touch base with clients at key milestones to understand how projects are progressing and figure out how we can support them with their future goals.

If you could swap your expertise and role with a colleague from another team at Mtech Access, what would you pick?

I would love to swap places with someone from the Health Economics team. I’d like to understand more about the ins and outs of health economics and see how models are built from scratch.

When you are not at work, what do you like to do?

I love food, so you will usually find me cooking or trying out new restaurants!
