NHS England published its 2022/23 National Tariff Payment System on 31st March 2022, a day before the new NHS financial year. The system provides guidance for the continued running of interim NHS internal transactions pending the eventual launch of the Aligned Payment and Incentive (API) approach.
This is the most important business-critical policy of the NHS as it governs the process for funding secondary care activity, i.e. circa 65% of NHS expenditure. The processes drive organisational behaviour and some areas relate specifically to high-cost drugs.
